Don't miss this great event! Classes and booths with materials, samples and hands-on demonstrations suitable for adults and children of all ages from a variety of vendors and scientific and community groups, some of whom are shown below.

  • Local Ham Radio Groups - will provide live demonstration of how ham radio operators would help our communities during a disaster.
  • Pacific Northwest Seismic Network – information about earthquakes suitable for kids and teens and demonstrations of earthquake and volcano measuring and alerting systems.
  • WASART (Washington State Animal Response Team) - will provide classes in "Disaster Preparedness for Pets"
  • Sprint - Sprint will share information about cell communications during disaster situations. They will bring their trailered satellite mobile communication system, if it is not being used for a real disaster at that time.  
  • Women's Self-Defense Training - representative from Survival Woman, a local self-defense training group will provide demonstrations of the kinds of skills women can learn to protect themselves.
  • Emergency Food Stores Vendors - representatives from Thrive and other manufacturers of preserved foods will be present.
  • Washington National Guard - presentation on how the WA NG is prepared to support western Washington in case of a catastrophic earthquake. 
  • Insuring Against Disaster - Jim Bannon, Allstate Insurance - will provide information on earthquake insurance and other specialized kinds of insurance coverage. 
  • First Aid - Pierce County Department of Emergency Management staff will provide classes in the basics of first aid. 
  • PC-NET Training - members of the Pierce County Neighborhood Emergency Teams (PC-NET) will explain PC-NET's neighborhood oriented approach to emergency preparedness and will show how you can organize your neighborhood to provide support for each other.
